I am inspired by nature, over the past ten years my paintings have fallen into four areas, Landscapes, Seascapes, Abstract and Animal portraits. My style is constantly developing and changing depending on the specific subject and materials, from oils on canvas to mixed media on paper. Last summer I exhibited as part of the South East Open Studios. The paintings on show were from my year spent in New Zealand. They depict scenery from the hugely varied topography, as I wanted to create a sense of the vivid colours which can be found in the southern hemisphere. This year I am exhibiting again and the Sussex landscape & changing seasons is my main source of inspiration. I enjoy the delicate images of flickering lights as the wind blows through the trees, bringing with it textures and an abundance of colour. The challenge for me is to capture these moments by experimentation with paint as a medium.
